The Relationship between Test Anxiety with Academic Performance and Students' Academic Achievement Motivation in the Applied Science Centers of welfare Shiraz City 2018

Abstract :
Introduction:Test anxiety as an important educational problem, annually, it affects millions of students and pupil worldwide, reducing their academic performance. The purpose of the present study was to describe the relationship between test anxiety with achievement motivation and academic performance of students in the Applied Science Centers of welfare Shiraz City.
Method:This cross-sectional correlational study is based on the applied purpose it was carried out during the period 2018-2019. The statistical population is all students in Applied Science and Technology Centers of Shiraz City. Random sampling method and sample size According to Krejcie and Morgan's standard table, 304 people were selected. The method of data collection was from Sarason Test Anxiety Inventory, Hermes’ achievement motivation and academic performance of Fam and Taylor Cronbach’s alpha was 0.882, 0.883 and 0.878, respectively. Data was analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive and analytical tests including correlation coefficient and linear regression coefficient.
Results:The correlation coefficient between test anxiety with achievement motivation (r = 0.612) and academic performance (r = 0.391) was inverse and significant (0.05). Also, linear regression analysis indicated that test anxiety has the power to explain the components of students' motivation for achievement and academic performance.
Conclusion:Regard the importance of academic performance and Promoting student development motivation in the education system and their impact on exam anxiety, the need to provide strategies to improve them can guarantee improved educational conditions in an educational system.
