Title :
Title: The effect of stress management training on dental students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
-
Abstract :
Background and Aim: In dentistry, there is educational environment stress and clinical environmental stress on students. Applying the right methods of managing these stresses can prevent the occurrence of long-term and unpleasant side effects of these stresses. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of teaching stress management methods on dental students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 1398. Methods: The present study is quasi-experimental and the measurement method was used before and after the intervention. The research population of the present study was dental students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Sampling was done by cluster random sampling and students were selected in proportion to each student and were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. For the intervention group, a stress management training class was held. One month before and after the intervention, students' stress levels were assessed using the Folkman & Lazarus Stress Management Questionnaire (WCQ) and compared with the control group. Results: The results of our study show that there is a significant relationship between the dependent variable (stress) and the scattering variable (pre-test) in both problem-oriented and emotion-oriented strategies (p <0.001). Therefore, the present study confirms the positive effectiveness of stress management methods on reducing stress in dental students. Conclusion: The findings of the present study showed that teaching coping skills for stress significantly helps dental students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. However, further studies on larger groups are needed to confirm these results.
