Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between coping styles, perceived social support, and anger control among nurses working in the teaching hospitals of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This was a correlational study. The statistical population consisted of all nurses employed in Kermanshah's teaching hospitals, and a sample of 150 nurses was selected using the cluster sampling method. Data collection instruments included the Novaco Anger Control Questionnaire (1986), the Zimet Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (1988), and the Endler and Parker Coping Styles Questionnaire (1990). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis via SPSS software (version 25). Findings: The research findings indicated that perceived social support and a problem-solving coping style have a positive effect on anger control; this means that individuals with greater support and an active approach to problem-solving manage their anger more effectively. Conversely, emotion-focused and avoidant coping styles are negatively associated with anger control; in other words, employing such methods—such as escaping the problem or becoming overwhelmed by emotions—diminishes an individual's ability to control anger. Overall, these factors play a significant role in predicting the level of anger control. Conclusion: The findings indicate that perceived social support and the problem-solving coping style play a protective role against anger and facilitate its better control, whereas maladaptive coping styles (emotion-focused and avoidant) are associated with a reduced ability to control anger. These results underscore the importance of addressing supportive factors and fostering adaptive coping skills among nurses to improve mental health and anger management.
