Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation strategies and students' emotional problems. Population, Sample and Sampling Method: The statistical population of this study was 652124 male and female high school students in Tehran who were studying in the academic year of 1389-99. Samples were selected through random sampling from Morgan's student sample of 380 male and female students. The research design is descriptive and correlational in terms of purpose and data collection. Data were collected through Garnefsky et al. (2001) Emotional Cognitive Questionnaire questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, standard deviation and inferential statistics; stepwise regression with spss software were used for data analysis. The findings of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between emotional problems and emotion regulation strategies. Meanwhile, some cognitive emotion strategies, such as catastrophizing and rumination, have had more effects on emotional problems. It predicts depression, anxiety, hostility, and interpersonal tenderness.
