This review article examines contemporary research on psychological empowerment interventions for street and working children across five main domains: assessment of psychological capacities, intervention effectiveness, resilience and coping mechanisms, the role of empowerment in family and interpersonal interactions, and developmental pathways. A comprehensive review of empirical studies published between 2018 and 2026 employing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches was conducted. Findings indicate that psychological empowerment interventions demonstrate significant positive effects on psychological outcomes for working children. Mindfulness-based training improves emotional regulation, resilience, and psychological well-being. Psycho-emotional empowerment packages enhance social competence in vulnerable adolescents and improve the subjective well-being of children from disadvantaged families. Community-connected approaches strengthen resilience through healthy attachments and emotional regulation skills. Psychosocial interventions simultaneously targeting intrapersonal and interpersonal agency have shown meaningful impacts on psychosocial functioning in underprivileged settings. Results indicate that psychological empowerment is a multidimensional construct with strong empirical support for working children. Effective interventions share common elements including self-awareness, self-efficacy, emotional regulation, social competence, and trauma-informed, culturally-contextualized approaches. Integrating these principles across individual, family, school, and community levels provides promising pathways for enhancing well-being and developmental outcomes for working children.
